Nack [regarding 61P-52S-32, top right]: "I don't like hitting much given that the bar point is made."

rew: Please elaborate if you ever read this reply.

After playing 61P, a subsequent blitz has a higher chance of success (than it did before 61P), but it's a less efficient game plan: one is partially squandering the value of the prime already earned.

For the two positions above, compare 52S-32 [H S11 K14...D37]a with 65R-52S-32 [S U19 K28 d31] <5, where the difference in the S/K margin is .025, and the difference in the K/d margin is .020 . One is that much less motivated to make a blitzing play after filling in the three-point prime.

For an even better example, compare the two positions below 51S-41 [K D13 U29]a with 61P-51S-41 [d U11 K35] "^e. The K/d swing of .048 is even larger (than .020) because the prime (being squandered) is stronger against the 23pt blot than it is against the 22pt blot.

Key: S = Split (24/21 13/11), U = Up (24/22 24/21), K = Kill (6/3*/1* or 6/2*/1*), D on the left or d on the right = down (13/8).

Of course, there are times it is right to blitz even when one has a prime on sheer power alone, but it is still vital to understand that the two game plans are at cross purposes to some extent.

Nack
