Just to be clear, you are asking about unclocked matches. Some tournaments use clocks. Including Monte Carlo in 2011 (clock "preference" was the rule).

(a) average? a few seconds. most? maybe 2 minutes, once. (b) average? a few seconds. most? maybe 5 minutes, once. more likely 3. c) [what does a good Tournament Director do if a player's pace in an unclocked match threatens to delay the tournament] (1) monitor the match, (2) threaten to put a clock on the match, (3) put a clock on the match. I prefer (3). (d) a few seconds

By the way where can i find the official rules of Backgammon World Championship?
