So we're in the deceptive campaign '12 season already?

Rather than to snip out an out-of-context sound-bite, let's see exactly what Tobias said (trusting the interview, which I do):

Over the years I met many people with ideas how to change the game, they want to make it fairer or like to take “the luck factor” out of the game. The Problem here, there is no “luck factor” in this game. Certainly it seems unlucky when you feel or know you are 70% or more favorite and still loose, but in the long run you will win seven out of ten times when you have 70%. To me backgammon is well balanced game, and I won’t change anything.

OK (and, naturally, I have my opinion), what in the above quote is missing, or at a minimum being overlooked/under-appreciated, from the debate that has erupted here?
