The idea of having a pure luck game like Eureika is not necessarily bad, it ensures that the kid will win 50% of the time. However, it would be more fun for me to play a game with at least a little bit of skill and to make intentional mistakes from time to time.

The big issue with those two games is that there is no hitting involved. And hitting is the real fun thing for my son. My plan is not to make a step-by-step approach to playing great backgammon, but to have him enjoy the game as much as possible, and later to use it as a teaching tool for probabilities and rational thinking.
