Withdrawing from a tournament

If you want to pull out of any tournament for any reason (that isn't some sort of collusion etc...) I think it's your right to do so. ... if I ever felt like quitting a tournament right in the middle of it because there was a He-Man marathon on I just couldn't miss or I had the irrepressible urge do paint my nails that day that's my business.
I realize you're half joking here, and I don't think my opinion on this is much different than yours, but let me paint the other side of the picture.
When you enter a tournament you are implicitly agreeing to: take the tournament seriously, abide by the rules, be on time, be friendly to your opponents (or at least civil), be a good sport, and try your best. I don't think you should withdraw from a tournament unless you have a very good reason to (e.g., sickness, family emergency). Of course only you can tell if a given situation rises to the level of "very good reason". My comment is more about the attitude you should have going in.
