Bar/14* minimizes return shots but then White is likely to make her bar point next turn, making it difficult for us to escape our abandoned straggler. Hitting on the 18pt stays connected, slots two advanced anchors, and gives us a lot of counterattacking potential if White rolls poorly—but at the risk of getting blitzed. This is a tough decision because the variations after bar/20 24/18* are very complicated to calculate and assess. Probably I would wimp out with bar/14* OTB but I can easily believe that bar/20 24/18* rolls out better.
