The summer between my freshman and sophomore years in high school I began caddying. I recall a (very good) left-handed golfer saying "I've been told I should switch to playing right-handed because your natural arm is stronger and the golf swing should be dominated by the pulling arm. But then I replied so why aren't you switching to left handed clubs?"
I'm a natural southpaw and hit the baseball and softball as a lefty. I started playing golf (that same summer) left-handed but switched because I had access to a full set of RH clubs but only a broken set of LH clubs. My first round as a righty I shot 150. If I remember right that was only about 2 1/2 months after I started playing (left handed) and I probably was playing at 110-115 LH then. I continued to play base/softball left handed but after about a year (which was really only a few months due to seasonal inactivity) I never felt nearly as comfortable with an LH golf club as an RH one. (I did continue to putt left-handed, though.)
It has been found that left-handed people show much better ambidexterity than their counterparts, but that is very likely due to the RH bias of the world around all of us. I'm not complaining -- I like being (somewhat) ambidextrous. Still, add another wrinkle to Stick's bet -- the natural LH'er will probably make the transition more quickly, all other things being equal.
