You will likely never get all the tournament groups to buy into a "one place fits all for running events". However, the idea has merit (imho) if creates a schema of data and metadata that each group can generate for their events (This would be adhoc to whatever mechanism that each group already uses). A central server/database would aggregate all the data from each participating site and then make it available in some unified fashion on a website / emails / rss feeds etc.
