If you make the acepoint I only see four blotting rolls for opp's shake. Meanwhile you potentially leave yourself in an awkward situation next turn. This position reminds me of the more common situation where you own the midpoint and are better off giving it up and letting the back checkers do the sentry work. Doubtful it's this simple, but OtB that would be my thought-process.
