OT - Poker Fail

I find it difficult to make a judgement here because I don't know the ins-and-outs of tournament poker rules and ethics. If it were backgammon, then it's a different story, but it's not.

Some of the opinions remind me of the example I've used many times of baseball and (US) football where it is accepted (meaning ethically) to pretend you caught the ball before it touched the ground when you in fact know you didn't.

From the reaction of the other players (and the actions and inactions of the officials) it seems pretty clear that what this guy did is in the least not acceptable. But what should be done about it -- I haven't a clue.
