EPC - Point of last take calculation

He means to use the 7N + 1 calculation so you are showing a 5 roll position for blue.

To answer your natural followup question, the rule does not work for the above position (It is a solid pass) because the rule is intended for roll vs pip and not roll vs roll positions. Try giving white a position with the same EPC but without checkers on the lower points to see how much of a difference it can make.
