According to the EPC the wastage for a SINGLE CHECKER on the 6pt is 4.2 pips as displayed in the table above. The bottom row of figures show the difference in wastage i.e. the difference between the 5pt and 4pt is 0.3.

Application: A closed board with no spares equals 10 pips of wastage; this is your point of reference. Blue has gaps on the 1, 3 and 4pts in this NICE position. From the 10 pips, subtract 1 pip for the gap on the 1pt, 0.6 for the gap on the 3pt and 0.3 for the gap on the 4pt. At this point, 1.9 pips have been subtracted. Subtract 0.5 for the blot on the 2pt (blots are half the value). The 6pt is ground zero and the 5pt has 2 more checkers so add 0.1 for each checker. Blue's EPC wastage is 10-2.4, 7.6+0.2 = 7.8 pips.
