I will notify the class-action lawyers that Bill Riles may have a case for them, at long last.

There's two documents of legal significance involved here: the contract between the hotel and the event organizer, and the publicity materials distributed by the event organizer. The hotel is only responsible for the former. Without seeing that contract, I would be a little surprised if it contained an unconditional promise to contribute $100,000 with no wiggle room, but who knows.
