The hotel had promised a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000, but when only fifteen players showed up, they announced they were breaking their promise

Instead of just taking a $100,000 - (15 * $5,000) = $25,000 loss on the prize fund? That's an interesting way of doing business.

The same hotel that was to host this $100,000 backgammon tournament Nov. 7-9 is also hosting a $500,000 guaranteed poker tournament Nov. 8-13. The website:
