Thank you, Bob, for the explanation.

I think we all learn from this experience the importance of all involved to ensure everything associated with such tournaments is on the up-and-up and that all i's are dotted and t's crossed -- this is particularly incumbent upon directors, whom we typically know, and with whom we place our trust.

I'm sure Chiva, rightfully, is livid and most disappointed by the episode for the impact to his friends and for the damage it could do his reputation, justly or not, as a promoter and director. Obviously, Chiva did not wish nor anticipate this development, so I am empathetic with him; however, I can imagine as a likely minimal attendance became apparent to him he might wish, in retrospect, he had explored the consequent ramifications with the promoter/sponsor. I am fairly confident such will not happen to him, or to an event with which he is associated, again.

Unfortunately, events such as this, doubtlessly well-intentioned for the good of the game, can do much more harm than good.
