Tim: I will then follow up with a fairly detailed analysis of my own. I, for one, am a big fan of your posts to r.g.b. I'm a bit of a lurker there, as I don't have a Google log on (and I'm not sure I want one). I first became aware of the r.g.b./Google site from one of your posts here.
Stick, who says elsewhere in this thread that he has pulled back somewhat from analysis here, has contributed some very worthwhile posts to r.g.b.
One thing you might do to improve the legibility of board diagrams at r.g.b. is to use a service such as GABBI to create a graphical board image that remains stored on the GABBI server, and then post the link on r.g.b. The main GABBI page works well with IDs from GnuBg and also with positions you setup manually. If you want to paste an ID from XG, use this alternate page. Eventually, Simon Woodhead, the creator of GABBI, will fix the main page so that it accepts an ID from XG. In the meantime, however, only the alternate page can do the job.
Here is a link to a sample board diagram produced by GABBI.
Of course, there is nothing to guarantee that the GABBI server will be on the Internet forever, so if you decide to try a GABBI image, you should probably continue to post text diagrams on r.g.b. as well.
