I don't think that the fact that your opponent might make an error can justify turning the cube in this case or in similar ones. The size of the error of a wrong take or drop probably pales in comparison to the size of the error of the wrong double. If you double when you're not good enough and the opponent takes and redoubles your risk far outweighs his. If you double when your too good and risk letting him escape for only one point, you've blown it. I don't think a bad double ever becomes a good one because your opponent MIGHT make a mistake.
