The ethics of the OLM

When you have no established rules, either written or clearly established and understood through custom, you have no ethics. Each person is free to draw the line wherever he chooses. If, however, it is stated that people should post their opinion without consulting any other source, then you have that line.
In football, basketball, baseball and many professional sports where you have a referee or official, it is expected that the players are supposed to leave the calls to the referee, and even try to "fool" the referee into thinking he was not off sides, or did catch the ball before it hit the ground. In golf, you are expected to call infractions on yourself if you ground your club illeglally or move your ball illegally.
Having said that, however, when there is no official, honesty is considered to be an expected value, and the sin of omission is just as dishonest as telling a lie. If it is assumed that you do not use a bot or get other opinions, and you do it and don't disclose it, then I am completely with Chuck on this one. It's dmisleading and therefore dishonest. But if you choose to look at other opinions and then express yours, and you state that you did that, I see no deception or dishonesty of lack of ethics, UNLESS it has been requested that if you participate you should not do that.
