The ethics of the OLM

Thanks, Casper. I could, of course, continue to participate occasionally in the OLM as I have done in the past. Nobody is stopping me from doing so. However, if there is a reasonably strong sentiment from several people that they prefer it to be run a certain way (blind voting), then I don't want to interfere with that by setting a bad example.
The argument has been made that everyone will benefit more if I participate and vote blindly. Well, I don't think that I benefit more that way. I can, and do, play blindly against the bot all the time. I don't need to play another solo match against the bot on BGO. The reason I would play in the OLM is for the experience of a consultation match—learning to listen to other people, and learning when I should be swayed by others' opinions and when I should stick to my own guns. I can't do that alone at home.
And what about the benefits to other people? Well, I do enough postwhoring here that if anyone finds my comments interesting and valuable, they have plenty of other examples of it. They don't need me to comment on the OLM.
I still think the best way to go is for me not to participate in the OLM, at least not until the voting for a position has already closed.
