How about 5/1, 5/4? A difficult play for most humans to even find, and maybe that's a good thing. :) If opp had no chance in the race but couldn't stay long, maybe that would be best. I don't know how hard it would be to construct a position where this is best play but this probably isn't it.

Of the other three candidates [ 0(2); 4/0, 6/5; and 6/2*/1 ], none is perfectly safe next turn (unless opp runs out). IMO the risk of getting hit outweighs the risk of getting outraced (without a hit) so that eliminates the pick-and-pass. After that why not rip two since It's the same number of shots next turn (from my quick count).
