The ethics of the OLM

I'm interested in the discussiom of the merits of different plays far more than how or why peole vote. You tend not to get a high quality discussion if everyone is wearing earplugs.
I was going to not post any more in this thread... I thought I hadn't anything useful to add.
I guess I need to clarify my vision of how the OLM should work. It seems that the notion of voting blindly is being carried to an extreme. I am not saying that one should vote blindly and then leave. On the contrary! I'm saying:
- Look at the problem
- Don't look at any responses
- Decide on your move, write a little blurb about why you think that's best
- Post
- Don't stop there! I think people are misinterpreting what I'm saying, thinking that once you post, you're done. No way! Now that you've posted, go read what everybody wrote. Comment on their posts. Create a discussion. Find alternate positions and post them, do some rollouts on those.
Saying that I don't believe people should avoid looking at everybody else's commentary does not imply that it should be a dozen people voting and not talking about it.
