Its funny about backgammon literature. When it comes to writing multiple backgammon books, two people come to mind, Bill Robertie and Danny Kleinman. However, when authors tease us with the promise of a sequel, it appears that ambition is surpassed by sheer exhaustion. The writers truly do want to expand on their original concepts, but the amount of effort going into the initial volumes causes the authors to curtail their projects. The first that comes to mind is the Bible itself, Backgammon by Paul Magriel. This was meant to be the Old Testament. I have been told by many sources that a New Testament was in the works but never came to fruition. That would be followed by the Book of Mormon, etc. In fact, it was intended to be one of several volumes. Then of course there is the aforementioned Backgammon Encyclopedia Volume 1. And of course, how many of us have become experts at the 3-1 opening waiting with great anticipation for a new opening roll. I have put all these books on my shelf next to my Brittannica Volume A anxiously awaiting Volume B.
