A tempting alternative is to make the 4-point block, and then hit in White's outer board. It pays off to 3, 4 and 6 on the return, however, giving White 20 rolls (13 14 16 23 24 26 33 34 36 44 46 22) that hit. Counting them tends to cool any notions of hitting and blocking at the same time.

The more sober 10/9*/7 makes the hit now, and leaves only a fly shot in return. The block will have to wait until next turn.
