Is it conceivable that 10% will drop this?

That's not much in general but for this specific position where the race is obviously close and the opp's forward position is so strong I wouldn't expect you to get 10% drops unless you were playing really weak opposition on the whole.

This position bears the hallmark of what I look for when considering a cube: If I roll well, then I crush the opponent. If I roll poorly, then I'll at least have 50%.

Yes in general, but when you involve a score that simplification isn't enough.
