imho, tips are for especially good service. the td's are not employees and are not being overly paid --- they largely set the size of their compensation (ie. rake) and shouldn't expect more. if the tournament runs smoothly, or someone goes above and beyond to help you, and your financial position allows you to share, then great. someone who expects to be tipped will never get enough of a tip anyway.
