If we roll 2-2, 2/1 is better....

I don't understand that statement. If we play 5/4 then we can take three checkers off with 2-2 whereas after 2/1 we only get to remove two. I haven't looked at the resulting distributions but can't see how they would trump getting the extra (odd) checker borne off.
