I guess coming out reduce the pressure on the two blots on the 7 and 8 points, but adds a little more pressure on other accounts.

Meanwhile the 7 and 8 points are important for white, in order to scramble the big 13 stack home.

If that's a correct idea, then staying back will give more rolls, where white has to give up important stepping stones (7 and/or 8), thus could be better than it looks.

Add to that: Future rolls are spread a bit better in playability: any big rolls will then bring the spare from the anchor and past the 13-stack, while small rolls will improve the home board efficiently.
