After the hit on 7 we have still 4 blots left around the board even covering at 9. I also thought about hitting as it is true if white escapes or connects our board has less value. But since we are still stuck with 2 checkers I had a hard time believing hitting would do us service. maybe with another spare on 8 you can cover the blots more. But so mannt blots floating on our 8+7 I think hitting is wrong. So I believe making the 5 is our best strategy as it cleans up and we make our 5 .
