In Response To: Nactation Questions — Clarifying the P (Point) family (Nack Ballard)

When all the dice in a roll are used to cover an existing blot, can the play be nactated in the
P (Point) family?

My guess is, “yes.”

As an example, consider the sequence 21$-62Z-42 diagrammed below.

2O ' ' ' '5X1X3X ' ' '4O

1X '1X '1O4O '3O ' '1O4X
21$-62Z-42
Position ID: 4OvgASTQc+QBMA Match ID: cAkKAAAAAAAA

The best play is to cover the blot on the 5pt. Can it be nactated P? Is the following table correct?

P (Point) Family
Traditional
Notation
Hits on
These Points
(more is better)
(higher is better)
Owned Points Not Held
by All Members in Family
(more is better)
(closer to 6pt is better)
Blot and Spare
Destinations
(closer to 6pt is better)
(outer board: farther is better)
Nactation
11/5 5pt* P
8/4, 6/4 4pt* p
13/9, 11/9 9pt* P

*This is the deciding criterion.

Thanks.

Mike
