This is the kind of tough choice that separates champions and winners from intermediate players like me!

Since we have to leave a shot, my first instinct is to hit. If we are missed after playing 8/2*, we would have direct 4s and 6s to cover.

My second choice is to slot the bar point, 13/6. That would give us 1s and perhaps 4s or 6s to cover after a miss.

Slotting the 5pt, and bringing a builder down, 13/8, would be my third choice. That play leaves 3 and perhaps 6 as cover numbers. (I don't like the looseness of 11/5.)

There is a maxim that says, “prime a point; attack a blot.” I’ll go with that here.

My vote: 8/2*
