checkerplay decision vs. Gregg in Madison

Not all directors allow bot-intermediated matches, e.g. CJC at the Michigan Summer Champs. (Apparently the Madison directors did -- ala Rice-Sax match). Gregg has a standard pocket digital (still photo) camera which will run in auto mode, taking multiple pictures per second, and lots of memory (although not a ridiculous amount, I think maybe 4 GB card). He mounts the camera on a tripod. The only problem for his setup is that the resolution isn't good enough to see the dice spots so he gets that afterward from seeing the move (hopefully not illegal!:), sometime calling out the dice (camera has audio recording) for rolls in which both dice move only one checker (e.g. 9 pip running opening could be 5-4 or 6-3, so Gregg verbally states which one).
You are right that recording a match (even by human hand) is a lot easier than transcribing to bot readable format.
