On Bar Cube Decision

When I was playing I figured that even if I fanned or got hit (after getting the checker off the bar) that my opponent would still have a difficult time covering up and getting his checkers around. That plus with a little luck (as happened) I would be able to escape that checker on the bar and then the win would be pretty much assured (and a clear drop if I hadn't already doubled). I found the situation intimidating being on the bar with him having chances to close out his board but seeing that he was going to have a potentially tricky time getting his back checkers around put me over so I doubled.
What's interesting is that the move before that he had a choice to leave a blot on his 6 pt or his ace pt (with two checkers on 6) and chose the former. Even though I don't think it matters in this situation when considering his play OTB I felt that I probably wouldn't redouble just because the possibility of being stuck on his ace point felt really bad. Odd bit of psychology at work there.
