1. White is not on the bar and has made a new outfield point. I'd take for money. Leading 3a4a, though, I think I'd drop. D/P.

2. Blue covers with 19 rolls and even if he doesn't cover, White could dance. I can't see myself taking this, especially at 3a3a when we usually should drop a little quicker than for money. Doesn't look TG either; if White enters she can probably take. D/P.

3. Tricky. 60 pips down before the roll, we'd really like to stay back and hit a shot, but something has to give here. One option is to go all-out for White's midpoint and give up our back anchor, with 22/14(2) or maybe 22/18 22/10. This will probably also be best for running off the gammon if it comes to that. The disadvantage is that it releases the pressure on the rest of White's checkers, and if White clears the midpoint safely then it's all over. Another option is to clear the midpoint with something like 13/9 13/5 7/3 or 13/9 13/1. White could be forced to leave a shot immediately with 65 61 55 54, and even if not, we can probably hold both anchors for another turn. The disadvantage is that we can't hold on to both anchors for long. Still another option is something like 18/14(2) 13/9(2) or 18/14(2) 13/5. I don't like this option so much because I think it relieves too much pressure on White's midpoint. Tough call but I'll go with the rule of thumb that we should maximize contact since we're still so far behind in the race. I'll try 13/9 13/1.
