1. Now this is a poser. Obviously we can play completely safe with 16/11 12/11. But then if White runs off the anchor, it's difficult for us to attack the straggler, and we could be the ones leaving an awkward shot later. A second option is 16/11 4/3, giving White four hitting rolls, but making our board and making our return shots that much more potent. I like this better than 16/11 12/11. The only other option I see is 12/6, which gives White just 2 shots, and keeps a back checker as a guard if White runs with 62 63 64, but fails to make our board and could make it hard for us to clean up our straggler later. Not sure but I'll try 16/11 4/3.
2. We could make the 5pt, though that gives White quite a few double-hitting rolls. Another plan is to reduce our exposure by playing 18/15 and then finding an ace. It's not clear to me that this is better, though, so I'll just try making the 5pt.
3. White's raw take point is 33%. Blue's gammon value on a 4-cube is reduced (about 1/3). Blue still has a lot of work to do since he is still behind in the race and he has two checkers behind White's broken five-prime. I would take. Blue does have several numbers that greatly improve his position, though; he could step up a back checker and make a fourth home-board point simultaneously. D/T.
