61P-66O-65D-32 and variant

These examples seem a little odd to ascribe to a "connectivity" theme, but to the extent that Blue's back checkers are screaming to be connected to (united with) the rest of his (partially overextended) army, I suppose it might apply.
61P-66O-65D-32
61P-66O-65D-32 variant with Wh6pt-9pt(2)
In the left-hand (Robertie's) position, U (Up, 24/21 24/22) looks clear and making the 8pt seems conceptually very wrong for the reasons Daniel mentioned (moreover, Blue's 8pt and 2pt are six points apart). After U, both of his checkers aim directly at escaping. That is, even his trailing back checker threatens to get out with a 6.
In the right-hand (your variant) position, 24/21 is still compelling, but this time 24/22 is not. That is, U fails to position the trailing back checker to directly escape. In that case, a different deuce is more reasonable, in particular that of W (Wild, 24/21 6/4), which I'd probably play. This move duplicates White's 3s and if left alone Blue will have the diversification of 3s to anchor and 4s and 2s to counterprime.
