Since we have the big racing lead and we're somewhat exposed I would not categorize 6/1*(2) as the premature burial of checkers. What we're doing is not only protecting our own checkers for one turn by taking away half our opponent's roll but we are also trying to shoo him out of our hair so that we can bring this game home by running and dumping checkers behind his anchor/back checkers.
