It is necessary to be threatened by builders on three different points before using the phrase “coming under the gun” to describe the threat. It does not apply to your variant.

In addition to the threat of being attacked (to which you refer), there are two other reasons splitting, 24/23 13/11, fares worse in your variant:

  1. A blot on the 23pt does not threaten an opponent checker on the 17pt.
  2. A blot on the 23pt is primed (i.e, blocked) when the opponent owns the 17pt. Blue cannot run when he rolls a 6.

As Nack mentioned, a rollout with so few trials, generally has a high variance. Although unlikely, more trials could reverse the result.
