In practice, I always say the score out loud after each game in a match. Then I write it on my scoresheet, and afterwards, check that my opponent has written the correct score on his scoresheet. In this case, after announcing, “five-five," I might have tossed in, “Looks like it’s going to be DMP,” against an opponent whom I knew understood that already. Mike
