I agree w/ your generalized 'reasons'. Additionally, I think Rob did very little promotion, relying primarily on history and tradition. That doesn't work. Contrast the success of good promoters, Rory and Ed Rosenblum, as examples, with the lack of success with those not promoting their events -- there are numerous examples. The results are directly proportional to the efforts.
