Not your best work.
LOL.
However I happen to think he came up with some truly wretched charities for someone rich to give to. If you are middle class and don't have time or resources to do any research or creative thinking about your giving, then such charities might or might not make sense for check cutting.
But for someone who barely survived Laos, and then was in refugee camps for 4 years, I'd have hoped for more creativity. Such as finding a way to help able bodied people in similar such circumstances as he grew up with to help themselves and grow from miserable human beings without much hope or chance to do anything with their lives, and transform them into hard working, self sustaining, productive human beings. For example, working to help people out of refugee camps and place them into a stable situation elsewhere. Since any improvement is huge after a refugee camp, this need not cost much at all per capita, but nevertheless is priceless for the recipient.
Yet another option was to not give the money away, but to use it to create jobs that employ similar such refugees (or other people in miserable situations) who currently have diddly for self improvement chances. Of course not everyone has that skill (i.e. job creation) either, so that may not be an option.
But for rich people with time on their hands (e.g. assume they came into 8 figures recently and aren't currently needed somewhere valuable), especially when they have first hand glimpsed some of the worst mankind has to offer up, for them to cut checks to "tv charities" is pathetic.
So actually I agree with Stick's sentiment that a huge waste opportunity is going on here.
