Do you mean rejecting the first play that instinctively comes to mind?
I've trained myself not to think like that i.e. I now simply list all reasonable plays and try to analyze them correctly rather that homing in on one play to start with.

I'm probably more likely to make your mistake on a posted position looking for the wrong QF answer.

Not even considering the best play is the worst sin!
