Michael,

Thank you for your openness. Glad you avoided stumbling over my badly formulated question. "Do you mean rejecting the first play that instinctively comes to mind?" Your spot on! That is what I meant. I find the uniqueness in analytical styles, fascinating!

"I've trained myself not to think like that i.e. I now simply list all reasonable plays and try to analyze them correctly rather that homing in on one play to start with."

For me, a disciplined approach would impede my creative style.

"I'm probably more likely to make your mistake on a posted position looking for the wrong QF answer."

Very interesting! If it were p;ossible to classify positions for simplicity, complexity, creativity etc, we would get an idea of what kinds of positions we were likely to get right/wrong and how much of the time our analytical styles came close in delivering the right/wrong conclusions.
