Let's not forget before I get in my mini rant that I wish the bg world had a million Ray Fogerlund's. He shows up at a ton of tournaments, is a nice guy, tips the staff/is generous in general etc... but I'm physically ill at the sentiment:

'Nobody can argue with Ray's tournament results'

It's not that nobody can argue with them it's nobody listens when I have so I give up. I'm sure everyone sees it as me trying to piss on Ray's parade and that's fine but that's not what I'm trying to do. When you say "Nobody can argue with X's results" you can insert Federer in there, or Fischer (Bobby), or Fisher (Allison) but you can't insert a backgammon player. He shows up to more events than anyone and buys and rebuys as much as possible. There is no magical formula there. If you look at Ray's matches and identify the things the bot dings as errors by and large they're just plain errors. There is no way by and large they can be skill based adjustments.

I give credit where credit is due and Ray is a solid player. Sometimes he can play very well, I've seen him play in the 2s before for sure on more than one occasion, but if you take a decent player and enter them into so many tournaments how often should he be cashing/winning? Until someone answers a question like that (and many others) and then compares it to Ray (which would be damn tough to find all that data) then you just can't say.
