Cups + Baffle Box

Keith, As long as baffle box preference does not apply in any rules set, I hope that there is not also a rule that states cups must be used when a box is. That would presumably stop players like yourself from consenting to the box, or alternatively in some rules, requiring a roll to see who gets their way. If you're ok with a box and no cups then I would certainly settle for that. I would request that (unless we're also using a clock) you allow me to use a cup, and shake (not too much!)

I also hope that any rules of events I might enter do not state the opposite, ie that cups must NOT be used when a box is. This is because there ia another group of players who love to shake their precision dice in their plush Svilo's or snazzy Tak Morioka's, and will decline to use the box if cups are not allowed.

Certainly, as long as baffle box preference does not exist, I would hope that the player who consents to the use of the box is allowed to decide whether cups are employed, and also even shaking.

Like Phil, I will not contest any other option if you consent to the box: ie whichever available table we play on, which board (as long as it's not too small), seat, chequer colour, direction of play, which side the baffle box is on (I strongly suggest the outer boards with thin chequers), which cups we use (if any) - I have loads, which size of dice, whose dice (as long as yours are transparent precision ones without defects), which colour dice (again, I have loads in various sizes/colours) and whether we also use a clock when it's not mandatory.

BTW, I think that if a baffle box is used without cups, which is undoubtably faster than 'normal' rolling, there is a case for reducing the delay time by one second.
