The optimistic play appears to be slotting the 2-point with 5/2, 5/4. The pessimistic play is to kill fours with 5/4(2), 5/3.

Would White attempt a pseudo-trap by either blotting or simply clearing his 8-point and try to put a checker on the bar (and go for a backgammon)? Probably not a good plan since Blue's 6-6 (anytime soon) could be a gammon saver and just running one to safety would help some in that direction. What if we played 5/4(3), 3/2 (leaving two homeboard blots)? Nah.

I'll try for the 2-point. Killing numbers are good for holding an N-point board, but how good are they for holding an N-1 point board? This way a three becomes good die instead of a bad one, trading off with fours (good to bad) but giving us better longterm chances of making the 2-point.

5/2, 5/4
