Clocks on request doesn't necessarily prevent the odd match from running long, i.e. you have two 'slow' players matched up and they don't opt for a clock. I completely support any director that has clocks required. But for TDs on the 'fence', clocks on request solves 99% of the problems.

I'm more interested in MY match. I think it is completely reasonable in any Open/Masters/Doubles event that my opponent should not be able to prevent me from using a clock.
