cubing as an underdog

Easy enough even back then. My opp was a good player (for those times) with a masters in math and a teacher at a local girls school.
We could count in 36ths. No question as to what the ME's were except for -1-2C after I cube and lose so I asked my opp what percentage of games end in G's and he replied that he thought about 20-25%. I used 20% telling him that this conservative number was good for him. This meant that -1-2C was 30%....so..
After cubing I win 17 + (.3 x 19) matches or 22.7
After rolling I win 17 x .75 = 12.75 + 1/2 x 19 totalling 22.25 matches.
Most players back then in this circle (or any other) couldn't have come close to understanding the above, but this opp had no problem with it. I then further explained that by cubing I am risking 20 to gain 25 on a 17-19 shot.
Of course using the bot rolled out figure for 1-2C it is even more correct to cube.
I did give him a few of the beers. .. neilkaz ..
