I'm not in favor of touch-move in general, but I am definitely in favor of having directors enabled to impose it on habitually prestigitating players who never seem able to get the checkers back where they were originally! Occasional misplacements are one thing, and to be expected when we're playing humans over a real board, but constant vigilance at correcting opponents' illegal shuffling, move after move, is not a skill backgammon is normally intended to require.
