cubing as an underdog

20% was always low for G%. I thought 25% was closer to the truth. Back then people played lots of backgames but didn't bear off aggressively enough for the G. At some point in the 70's someone asked Magriel what percentage of games he thought ended in G's and he offhandedly said maybe 20% and that figure became gospel for MET's for a long time. I thought it was a bit low and kept track of G% in over 500 cubeless (G's counted) games I played vs grandma and dad it the figure was 27%. Anyhow..my own MET at that time used 31% for -1-2C.
As for OTB math, for cubing with that 43 at 2a3a, I didn't do any since I knew the position but it was trivial to see that I was risking 20% (MET using 30% for -1-2C) to gain 25% on a one shot situation with 17 to 19 odds.
