Why best move?

Almost everything David said is correct with the minor correction of "I saw someone strong miss a nice bar point slot in Ohio just last weekend". He actually saw two strong players miss the slotting play, myself and Mary Hickey. The position is below. OtB Mary and I discussed the merits of both down from the mid, 13/11 13/9 (her play), and one down from the mid, 13/9 6/4 (my play). Only after discussing these plays did I even glaze over the slotting play. I set it up OtB for a second, asked if Mary definitely didn't like it, she said no, and we were done with it. Honestly I had a rough idea of the racing count OtB and thought it was closer. Had I realized after the roll we were down 10 pips + not being on roll I would have given more thought to slotting. I'm willing to bet the score also affected both my and Mary's desire to slot.
